Proxmox 9 Provisioning and Compatibility Notes

Provider-focused notes for testing VMNexor provisioning workflows, templates, disk resize behaviour and OS reinstall flows on Proxmox 9.

VMNexor documentation is actively evolving. Some features, wording, and screenshots may change during beta.

Why Proxmox 9 needs testing

New Proxmox major versions should be validated carefully before being used for production hosting automation. Even when API compatibility remains strong, storage behaviour, cloning behaviour and disk resize behaviour can differ by version and backend.

Areas providers should test

  • Template cloning
  • Disk resize operations
  • Cloud-init provisioning
  • Cloudbase-Init Windows provisioning
  • Storage backend performance
  • VM lifecycle actions
  • Console access
  • OS reinstall workflows

Known testing focus

  • Test plans that match template disk size
  • Test plans that require disk expansion
  • Confirm qcow2 resize behaviour on selected storage
  • Confirm templates exist on expected node or shared storage
  • Avoid incorrect nested storage paths such as images/images
